How is EIS used for battery screening in the same test on the cycler?
Battery selection, from R&D to second life, relies on multi-stage testing. With an EIS-capable cycler, basic and advanced measurements are run on the same instrument in the same test, saving time and money.
Key points
- Classic screening: capacity and internal-resistance-versus-cycle tests on many cells with low-cost instruments; then advanced measurements such as EIS and dQ/dV on the selected cells with a potentiostat.
- EIS takes a few minutes, does not damage the cell and gives a large amount of information; done on the cycler, the cell does not have to be moved to a second instrument.
- Even if not used immediately, the spectra can be stored and analysed later; no second measurement campaign on a more advanced instrument is needed.
- BCS-900 series: the BCS-905, 910 and 915 modules have 8 independent channels with a maximum current of ±150 mA, ±1.5 A and ±15 A per channel, respectively.
- An optional built-in FRA, available for every module, provides EIS from 10 kHz to 10 mHz on each channel in galvano or potentio mode. High control and measurement accuracy also enables demanding analyses such as dQ/dV.
